December 31st, 2010

Come see the Cheap Suit Serenaders at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA on Saturday, January 8th.

Wearing period threads and playing vintage instruments, the “Suits” serve up a giddy blend of up-tempo Hawaiian stomps, ragtime, Italian polkas, and more as they recreate the music of the early golden age of jazz. With ukuleles, Hawaiian steel guitars, fiddles, cellos, banjos, mandolins, accordions, and musical saws in hand, Tony Marcus, Terry Zwigoff, Robert Armstrong, Alan Dodge, and Rick Elmore bring alive both great music and great times!

The group recorded three albums in the 1970s, two of them rereleased by Shanachie Records as the CDs Chasin’ Rainbows and Singing in the Bathtub.
